The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of PT. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Graduate from accredited school of Physical Therapy. Experience License/Certification/Registration
Current D.C. license or qualified candidate for DC license as a Physical Therapist. Upon hire, must have a D.C. License or be eligible for a reciprocity license, or have made application to sit for the board examination. Current CPR certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrates baseline knowledge of relevant PT practice and flexibility. Emotionally mature. Can objectively analyze situations, identify and problem solve. Listen effectively and present self orally and in writing. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct PT services, including evaluation, treatment, and reassessment of patients in accordance with standards of practice.
Reports on patient progress through appropriate written documentation and/or oral reporting mechanisms including patient team meetings and family conferences.
Collaborates with physicians and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
Supervises and teaches PT interns and other students as indicated.
Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Attends and participates in departmental meetings including peer review.
Participates in continuing educational programs for continued professional competency.
Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
