Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursingcare for the comfort and well-being of patients. The RegisteredNurse (RN) prepares equipment and assists physician duringexaminations and treatments. The Registered Nurse (RN) administersprescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, andmonitors patient vital signs. The Registered Nurse (RN) observesand maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, andprogress.

The Registered Nurse (RN)participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member orteam leader in the planning and implementing of patient care. TheRegistered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safeaseptic technique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offersleadership and direction to all support staff withindepartment.

Shoreline Cardiovascular Step-Downis a 27-private bed unit that specializes in cardiac care forpatients who have had open heart surgery. We seecardiovascular/thoracic patients and families that are post CABG,heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and many othercardiothoracic surgical procedures. We also see general medicalsurgical patients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosis/historywith co-morbidities that may need telemetry monitoring, as well asthose patients needing critical cardiac drips. On 6NT, we train ourstaff to detect medical issues before they become a problem, sothey can respond to those emergent situations quickly andconfidently. We have many opportunities for assessments,patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis andmedication administration/management. Our average nurse to patientratio is 5:1. One beautiful thing about 6NT is we are a heart floorin a heart hospital, so our beds are in high demand, are typicallyfull, and our staff is rarely cancelled. We offer flexiblescheduling through bid-shift and promote a team environment. On6NT, we encourage communication and collaboration in an environmentthat is engaging and rewarding for our health care professionals,as well the patients on our unit.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursingcare.
  • One-year experience in nursingpreferred.
  • Current Texas State RN License
  • CPR (American HeartAssociation)
